Ultrasonic

Ultrasonic

Ultrasonic waves transmitted into a material are reflected back to a transducer from discontinuities and geometric reflectors within the material being tested. Those signals are interpreted by trained personnel for this purpose in accordance with the product’s standardization requirements.

Ultrasonic may detect internal defects such as cracks, pores, lack of fusion, lack of penetration, shrinkage, laminations, corrosion and determine wall thickness of products.

Ultrasonic applications:

  • Measurement of wall thickness
  • Tests for defects in metallic raw materials
  • Tests for defects in inservice materials
  • Maintenance tests
  • Tests for defects in welds
  • Tests for concrete condition and cracks
