Radiography

Radiography

Radiography is a non-destructive testing method that provides information on discontinuities in the volume of the material under test.

An X or gamma ray radioactive source radiation is placed on one side of the part being examined while a film or a digital screen is placed on the other side. The radiation penetrates the tested material and forms a negative image of its structural state on the media. The negative image is developed and interpreted by a qualified interpreter in accordance with standard criteria appropriate to the tested product.

Radiography applications:

  • Testing for weld defects in piping, tanks, constructions, etc
  • Imaging of concrete elements
  • Testing for casting defects
  • Testing of printed circuit boards
  • Mapping of reduction in wall thickness
  • Sorting the chemical composition of substances
  • sorting content of foreign matter in food and textiles
