Tests under insulation

Tests under insulation

Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) is a very common cause of leaks in the chemical and petrochemical industry and is occuring due to moisture presence and high temperature in piping, vessels and other insulated infrastructures.
Such corrosion is hidden under said insulation layers and may only be detected upon removal of the insulation for visual inspection or in the event that an existing leak indicates its presence.

Assimilation of an advanced non-destructive testing method (NDT) for early detection of corrosion under insulation during the servicing stages of a facility may avoid extensive costs and possible shut down of the facility.

Gabi Shoef provides advanced testing services for the detection of corrosion and other defects in insulated or inaccessible piping and tanks using ®Eddyfi Lyft and Teletest FOCUS+™ from Eddyfi.

Eddyfi Lyft ® – Testing technology using Pulsed Eddy Current (PEC) for scanning aluminum insulating layer, stainless steel or galvanized steel.

Teletest FOCUS+TM – GWUT long-range ultrasonic system for mapping wall thickness reduction while covering meters in only a single probe attachment.
